MUTATIONS: N/A | [bg=7d828d][atrb=border,0,true][atrb=height,5][cs=2] | [bg=cccfd8][atrb=border,0,true][cs=2]PERSONA: Penny is a joyous, outgoing dog. She's not afraid of anyone, and will talk the ear off of any dog polite enough to listen. Despite her talkative ways, she really tries to listen and be a good friend to any dog who needs an ear or a shoulder to cry on. She is very empathetic, so if you cry, she's definitely going to cry with you. She is generally very trusting and extremely loyal, but some of her more recent circumstances have changed her view of the world. She does her best to be unchanged, but now she looks a little closer at dogs that come up to talk to her. She's a little bit wary, which is completely contrary to her nature. This hasn't changed who she is, but she does her best to know what she's getting into before she jumps headlong into a potentially dangerous situation. | [bg=7d828d][atrb=border,0,true][atrb=height,5][cs=2] | [bg=cccfd8][atrb=border,0,true][cs=2]HISTORY: Penny was born in the cold north in the midst of winter. Most puppies wouldn't survive such harsh conditions, but her mother dedicated herself to her litter and Penny and a couple other puppies thrived. Her mother was alone at the time, and Penny was able to romp with her siblings in peace. However, her mother's health became frail and she ended up joining a pack for protection and sustenance. Her puppies were young, but Penny wasn't young enough. She didn't like the looks she was given, and she didn't like how her family was treated. She threw herself into learning how to hunt and find shelter, and then she left. She was young and naive, but she was smart. She survived on her own, even if she lost weight. She became lean and fast, and apparently more attractive. She unknowingly wandered into a different pack's land, passing through an area where they had not marked their border well. She was about to leap at a rabbit when she was attacked. At first she was just pinned, and they examined her. One of the males decided he'd take her, but she refused. Not a smart idea on her part, but she still wanted to find her family again, and she didn't want to be stuck in this pack with a mate she didn't like. They gave her another chance, but again she refused. Her fate was given to the male who had chosen her. He took her near the boundary, but before he let her go, he attacked her. She landed blows while he tore her to shreds. She left him with a half torn ear and bites all along his body. He left her with cuts and bruises, and least of all, a broken leg.
The muscle she did have began to waste away. She could only catch the slowest of prey, and that didn't happen very often. At one point a couple coyotes came across her, but she rallied and fought them off. She had just about given up hope when a fox stumbled across her. Initially, Penny bore her fangs at the small white creature. But while it initially ran, it came back. It knew that she was hurt, and it knew that she was helpless. It started to bring her food, leaving it where she could get to it, but not coming any closer than the small fox had to. Penny might not be able to hunt for herself, but she wasn't about to go down without a fight either. Slowly, Penny's leg healed, and she grew strong with the help of the little white fox. She began to start hunting again, limping on her sore leg. Soon, she didn't need the fox, and the fox just stopped coming. They couldn't communicate, but Penny had hoped to express her thanks before the fox disappeared for good.
Her leg healed beautifully, although she found that sometimes it would just ache and she would limp for a couple of days, and then it would be gone. Sometimes, if she landed to hard on it, a spear of pain would run up her leg and the leg would buckle. She'd been away from her family for at least a year, and now she's returning to the area of her birth and searching for her brother Zelo especially, if not her other siblings.
