BREEDING
- SEASON: All species are most fertile during the warmer months of the year. They will typically mate within the seasons of Spring and Summer, and matings taking place within those seasons will have higher success rates.
- POSTING: Breeding threads can take place anywhere. Generally, animals breed wherever they are and don't go anyplace special for it. You may include breeding in your thread, but may NOT do so graphically. Please fade to black or just omit that section entirely with only a brief reference to the fact that it occurred.
- LOVE: In order for your character to fall in love and breed with another character, the pair must have at least 2 full threads (5 posts per character or more) together before they can begin a breeding thread. If they breed without meeting this requirement, the breeding will NOT be successful.
- FORCED: Forced breeding is allowed. Both characters do NOT have to approve. If your female is wandering alone during mating season, she is fair game to males in the area. She MAY try to fight the male off, and it will be judged like any other fight. When forced breeding does occur, it must not be graphic.
- FORM: Make sure you fill out the appropriate form after your character has bred. Staff will then determine if the breeding was successful and let you know. If it is successful, your character must roleplay as pregnant until time for her to deliver. In the case of species that have shorter gestation times, you are required to post at least one thread with the character pregnant, even if breeding and birthing will take place within the same season or back to back seasons.
BIRTHING
- FORM: Once it is time for your character to give birth, please fill out the necessary form. Remember that gestation periods vary between species and even breeds within a species, so it's your responsibility to know when it's time for your character to deliver.
- OWNERSHIP: Whoever roleplays the mother has first dibs on roleplaying the offspring. If they do not wish to, they must offer the offspring to the father next. If neither of those two wish to take control of the offspring, it may be adopted out to anyone on the site.
- DIFFICULTIES: Even if a breeding was successful, difficulties may still arise later. Pups or foals may be born with mutations or other defects, or may not even survive. The time of year and the conditions of the territory play a small role in determining if offspring survive.
